Moldovan Food Montage 2

Throughout summer, there is constant action to pick fruits and vegetables and for fruits there is compot and jam to make.  There is also the idea that you eat as much of the item as possible as the season is not long and for some fruits, like the cherries, you won’t have them fresh again until the next summer. Enjoy it while you have it.

I went to a birthday party for a friend of my host family and she had prepared sushi and a stacked salad- tomatoes, cheese, salami, mayonnaise and fried zucchini along with BBQ chicken. It was fun to celebrate someone’s birthday and amazing to find someone that loves to make sushi.

My host mom usually makes large pots of something and we have it for lunch and dinner for a few days. Several photos are of the typical dishes that I have had that include lots of potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, onions and cucumbers.

Beer comes in large plastic bottles and Moldovans enjoy eating smoked fish while drinking their beer.
