In October, the students at the school in my village had an exposition to celebrate fall and the varieties of squash: “Bostaniada”. Each class presented a table filled with artwork from squash/pumpkins/pumpkin seeds and posters depicting the fall. Then each class had a performance including poetry, song and dance. I really enjoyed seeing the creations and how some ideas like miniatures and the minions cross cultural boundaries. I was also able to see some of the creations being made; nail polish swirl pumpkins and making flowers from pumpkin seeds.
